We are a family-owned and operated small business. Rob Knowles (that’s me) and Meryl Stern (my wife) have farmed our land organically since I took over operations from my father. Our farm was originally homesteaded by my great grandfather. Our roots here are pretty deep. We are lifetime advocates for organic agriculture for reasons of both human health and the health of our planet. We care!
We decided to build our grain processing facility right here on the family farm in the hope it would supplement our income and allow us to actually make a living without leaving the land that we love. As with most small businesses we really struggled for several years. But by working crazy long hours, and bribing our then eleven year old twins with chances to drive the fork lift if they helped sew and stack the bagged grain, we have escaped those lean years.
CleanDirt Farm is located about 13 miles West of Sterling, Colorado and ¾ of a mile north of Colorado State Highway 14. We are in the heart of proso millet production in the USA. Colorado produces more millet than any other state. We process millet from our own farm, but as we have grown we buy millet not only from Colorado but also from Western Kansas, Southeastern Wyoming, the Nebraska Panhandle and some from as far as South Dakota and Montana.
Our millet is then shipped throughout the United States and exported to Europe, Israel, Canada, Australia, and Taiwan. We try hard to produce the highest quality products possible, and we are proud of our many satisfied customers across the country and around the world.
